As PATSY says,
she's "always thinking music"
PATSY MAHARAM is an innovator and known to be as charismatic as her creations.
PATSY, a native New Yorker, is a professional writer/composer and graduate of Adelphi University. After starting to learn music on the ukulele, she progressed to the piano, guitar and other instruments. Gifted with the art of songwriting, she began her brand with home demos and recordings at Media Sound and Ultra-Sonic Recording Studios to preview her materials to producers, publishers, agents artists, and media moguls.
Upon graduation, Patsy took a long train ride to the West Coast, to record at Redondo Beach Studios in California, before returning to NYC where some of Patsy's songs were originally published by the leading international publisher: BOURNE CO.
Adding to her talents, PATSY created her own independent record label, ROPERRY with her mother, Jane, as the professional manager. Patsy was a trendsetter, being one of the first women-owned independent record companies, who was able to break out and break the national charts, despite an autocratic male-dominated music industry. The company housed other artists, too. Roperry's prestigious NYC office began at 1775 Broadway and then moved to 645 Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
Throughout the decades, PATSY's credits include charted songs "Just A Little Imagination" (BILLBOARD A/C Chart) and "“Kid” Santa Claus"; (CASHBOX Chart), the disco hit, "Joggin" featured on The Richard Simmons Show and The Morning Stretch Show, the DOR hit "Teach Me, Teacher" (recording with the original members of Billy Joel's band), plus a Christmas Cabaret at The Russian Tea Room in the center of the world on 57th Street in NYC. The musical starred Clint Holmes, Russell Nype, Eileen Fulton and Patsy, who played the fun-loving original heroine, Santa's daughter, holding the reins of power to save Christmas.
PATSY has written musical scores including The Yellow Pad, “Kid” Santa Claus, Duck Valley as well as her mother, Jane Maharam’s life story while Patsy continues her efforts for the passage of Jane's Law: HR 6988 in Congress.
PATSY has performed at renowned venues including The Copacabana and The Limelight, and performed jazz piano in leading hotels, at society parties, and well-known restaurants, exclusive office buildings, and corporate events including The Pierre, and The Ritz-Carlton.
PATSY wrote commercials, hosted various children’s radio shows and has appeared on many television shows. She has won various song and lyric contests and was honored by the BOCES Schools for her delightful contributions to their shows.
PATSY was the Editor of The Contact Book for Celebrity Service International, and wrote the daily by-line “Celebrity of the Day” for the International Celebrity Bulletin.
PATSY wrote Earl Blackwell’s life story, MR. CELEBRITY, (featured in Town and Country) and was the Managing Editor & Senior Writer for the 50th Anniversary Special Edition of THE CELEBRITY REGISTER (Gale Publishing), where she also wrote the foreword for the book, incorporating quotes she personally collected from Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Audrey Hepburn, Brooke Shields, Helen Hayes and Cliff Robertson.
Additional industry accomplishments include extensive transcription work on such Emmy winning/nominated films as By The People: The Election of Barack Obama (HBO), His Way a film about Jerry Weintraub, executive produced by Steven Soderbergh (HBO), and Slavery by Another Name (PBS).
PATSY has participated in a number of professional organizations throughout her career including BMI, The American Theatre Wing, ASCAP Film & TV Workshops and ASCAP Theater Workshop, The Dramatists Guild, Drama Historian for The Theater Hall of Fame, and voting member of NARAS.
A well-rounded writer, entertainer, professional composer, musician, guitarist, pianist, arranger, conductor, producer and singer, Patsy's works have stood the test of time with her fingerprint on world music history...

Mitzi & Jack
"Patsy Maharam certainly has musical talent. What is commendable (and surprising), is that, at her age, she doesn't borrow from the mainstream of musical mediocrity of the last decade...As for her voice, it sounds like that of a young Peggy Lee." Ulpio Minucci [Director Film and TV Projects Music Publishing and A&R for CBS Record International]
"Keep up the good work, know that Mitzi and I are absolutely delighted..." - Jack Bean & Mitzi Gaynor
